The Act refers to one hundred and twenty (120) unemployed-young Scientists-insured in (Hellenic) Agricultural Insurance Organization, who are residences at Lesvos Regional Unit.

The aim of the Act is:

Preparing, promoting and supporting the one hundred and twenty (120) unemployed to either be hired by existing companies or -mainly- help them set up their own business.

They will be offered:

  • Counseling Support throughout the program and during the first 3 months of their employment.
  • The participants will attend related training programs
  • They will meet beneficiaries of similar Actions, which are being implemented in the North Region during the same period of time, in order to share their experiences.

Finally, for the beneficiaries who will establish a new business, FREE business plan development and support for its proper implementation, will be provided.

The main objective of the project is to facilitate the social inclusion of children with refugee / migrant or minority background in their school environment. The first specific objective of the project is to support teachers and educators that are teaching in multicultural schools (school with an increased number of children with refugee / migrant / minority background) to increase effectively their educational performance by implementing creative methods of learning. The second specific objective is the measurable increase of the educational performance of these children which will improve their social inclusion as well as their general integration in the mainstream society. The project will focus on the elementary school which is crucial for the successful inclusion of children from these target groups in the educational process.

Snapshots From The Borders is a 3-year project co-funded by the European Union (EuropeAid DEAR budget line), run by 35 partners, border Local Authorities and Civil Society organisations.

Snapshots From The Borders aims to improve the critical understanding of European, national and local decision makers and of public opinion about global interdependencies determining migration flows towards European borders, in the perspective of reaching SDGs targets, especially SDG 1, 5, 10 11 and 16. Specifically, the project intends to strengthen a new horizontal, active network among cities directly facing migration flows at EU borders, as a way to promote more effective policy coherence at all levels (European, national, local).

The heart of the project is “voice and experiences (snapshots) from the borders” and their broadest diffusion among European citizens. The voice of the real protagonists will travel from periphery to the center, at national and European level, where the decisions are taken. The project aims to inform European citizens that migration is a complex and multidimensional phenomenon and a political issue which needs efforts and concrete actions taken by people and organization/network at all level of society. Borders’ direct perspective and engagement is an added value for raising awareness, sharing knowledge, encouraging participation and showing citizens that they have an important role to play. By bringing voices and effective solutions from the borders where migration is lived directly, people will be more informed and aware of the determinants and actions and they will become protagonists in calling for a fair world. Once people are aware of the dimension, implication, causes and solutions, they will seek a change of attitude in terms of support for civil society.

In other words, Snapshots from the borders implements a bottom-up approach in terms of capacity building, advocacy and network building, where local decision making and stakeholders involvement is valued as able to identify real needs and goals in the migration and development debate.

Finally, the Action intends to contribute to a new European narrative which re-localizes the development discourse in the Mediterranean and at other European borders: this includes a shift towards a more coherent human rights-based approach to migration and development; new territorial policies aimed at creating decent work and sustainable production and consumption patterns; transnational and decentralized cooperation fostering strong linkages among communities; and migrants as a new human development actors participating actively in local communities at the social, economic and political levels.

Make October 3rd the European Day of Memory and Welcome and ensure migration policies keep humanity and solidarity at their core while promoting responsibility sharing across Europe.

The 3rd October is a symbolic date, reminiscent of the day when, in 2013, 368 people including children, women and men lost their lives in a shipwreck off the coast of Lampedusa.

Why is this important?

We ask citizens to join the border territories launching this petition in being part of a solidarity movement by signing and bringing the message of humanity and solidarity to the center of the EU institutions.

Share responsibility!
Together with the Border Territories launching this petition we want to spread our voices and call on all national and EU policy makers to fulfill their responsibilities to implement coherent migration policies. The needs and conditions of local communities hosting arriving migrants need support from the European level – a support that stands in solidarity with all human beings — local citizens and migrants.

People fleeing war and persecution very often have no safe and regular alternatives to reach Europe. Only by making these solutions available urgently, people will not be forced to resort to traffickers and to risk their lives. Make the 3rd October as the European Day of Memory and Welcome!
In 2016 the Italian Senate established by law that the date of October 3rd would be the Italian Day of Memory and Welcome (this initiative was held and promoted thanks to Comitato 3 Ottobre, born with this specific goal), to be celebrated every year to remember and commemorate all the victims of immigration and to promote awareness and solidarity initiatives. It is time we introduce this day in entire Europe.

From October 3, 2013 to today, 17,900 migrants and refugees have died or are missing in the Mediterranean Sea. While 2016 was the most lethal year, with 5,096 people who lost their lives in a desperate attempt to find salvation in Europe. In 2018 one out of every 18 people who crossed the Mediterranean heading to Europe lost his/her live: an unacceptable human cost and an unacceptable human statistic.

The 3rd of October will be a day to commemorate and reflect on these human losses; a day where wrong policies confront our individual and European values which should always stand higher. A day to remember the past, to correct the present and to envision our European future of solidarity and respect of all human lives.

“Make the 3rd October the European Day of Memory and Welcome!” is the demand of the campaign NO MORE BRICKS IN THE WALL! implemented by Snapshots from the Borders project, that links border towns and Islands facing migration at borders entrance.

In recent years, borders have taken on an immense significance. Throughout the world they have shifted, been constructed and dismantled, impacting on life on thousands of people, re-shaping virtual and material spaces. They are no longer exist only at the edge of territory, marking the point where it ends, but have been transported into the middle of political space, in the Mediterranean like anywhere else. In doing so, borders are deconstructed and reorganised according to the unceasing re-articulation of international power relations, national sovereignties, market technologies and systems of measurement and control on a global scale.

This is particularly apparent today in Europe: proliferation, mobility, and deep metamorphosis of borders are key features of actually existing processes of globalisation and modernity.

According to this, our snapshots from the borders aim to tell the human, material and political implications that borders and mobility policies means to the territories and people involved on both sides: of those who migrate and those who live in countries interested by migration flux, by giving relevance to those films reporting the experience through the voices of migrants and the witness of citizens and organizations working on reception policies.

The selection focused on the impact of the issue in European countries, except for two films that highlight what happen before the European borders. Furthermore, in the films proposed, the Border is decomposed in its spatial and material implications; in its social implications and the impact on the territories; in its etical and political dimension, questioning european citizenship; through stories that report the daily struggle of people living in a foreign country; in the emergency event depicted by media.

October 3 marks the sixth anniversary of what is being described as one of the most significant massacres of Mediterranean migrants: a ship carrying more than 500 people sank just a few meters off the coast of Lampedusa. 368 people (including children, women and men) lost their lives. only 155 were rescued.

Snapshots’ work for Capital Events has involved 19 Border Local Authorities and 37 civil society associations and organizations from the 28 countries of the European Union.

Lampedusa will be the “Capital of Europe”, with a series of events in 29 other European capitals and cities in support of the new resolution, which aims to ask the European Union institutions to Make 3rd October the European Day of Memory.

In each city, various activities and initiatives took place (such as cultural events, documentaries, discussions, exhibitions, flash-mobs, concerts, etc.) organized to inform citizens about the various issues and dimensions related to the phenomenon of migration. .

The  INTERREG BALKAN MED INNOVA project is an project of inter-Balkan scope and its main goals are:

  • The encouragemnt for the creation of innovative businesses
  • Cultivating a more business-friendly spirit and developing Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)
  • The stimulation of the business mentality with a special orientation in four (4) economic sectors of great strategic importance for the socio-economic development of our region.

The partnership is consituted by the follow partners:

The project’s activitites will be:

  • FREE online cources for each of the aforementioned sectors
  • FREE personalized support service (guidance) for the best business ideas, and most of all
  • FINANCIAL SUPPORT for the implementation of the most remarkable Business Ideas that will arise with the support of the Project

The project aims to:

  1. Provide support opportunities in order to improve the business environment of the existing and new businesses in the region, through an intergovernmental approach by engaging new types of business models, by supporting / exchanging ideas and encouraging innovation.
  2. Enhance the capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises to transfer expertise in order to improve their competitiveness.
  3. Provide adequate support for small and medium-sized enterprises to improve their ability to adapt to changing socio-economic conditions by supporting innovative models within a globalized framework.
  4. Support business learning and improve SME skills through training, retraining and guidance to acquire the necessary skills, grow in other markets and introduce innovation in all phases of their business cycle.

The CLARINET project’s general objective is to raise awareness on migrants’ positive contribution to EU societies among EU citizens. The CLARINET project is led by the Municipality of Lampedusa and Linosa, which collaborates with a multi-stakeholder partnership composed by 7 other Local Authorities located in border areas (border LAs), 9 Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) based in 8 EU countries, and 2 international networks.

The project targets border LAs and their residents (EU citizens and TCNs) as short-term beneficiaries, other EU LAs as medium beneficiaries and residents in other EU LAs (EU citizens and TCNs) as long-term beneficiaries. In a first step, the project will identify local authorities’ good practices in public communication campaigns on migration and integration through the implementation of the “Award for the best LA public communication campaigns promoting positive narratives on migration and integration in the EU” and the production of the CLARINET Positive Storytelling Kit on Migration for Local Authorities.

In a second step, the project will empower border local authorities to implement successful evidence-based public communication campaigns on migration and integration, through on-the-job training and On-demand support provided by migration and communication experts to border LAs staff. As a result, LAs will implement public communication campaigns involving TCNs and EU citizens testimonies, thanks to the collaboration with artists involved in local residencies. The project also plans to promote at EU level good practices of LAs communication campaigns on migration and integration. To do so, the CLARINET web-platform will be developed in 8 languages, featuring an online map of good practices; a social media campaign will be implemented in 8 EU countries. The project results will be promoted through a final event; dissemination at EU level will be ensured by the European Coalition of Cities Against Racism.

  • Public Events: communication campaigns and initiatives developed mainly through exhibitions, workshops, artistic or sport manifestations.

Candidates must select just one category when applying for the Award. Transversal campaigns – which use different channels – must choose one category which they would prefer to apply to.

AWARD APPLICATION PROCEDURE

The Award opens on the 1st April 2019. Applications can be submitted from the 1st April 2019 until the 31st July 2019 (Midnight).

To submit an application, the interested candidate must:

  • Go to the “Tell us about your campaign” section of the home page and fill in the online form;

    2. photos with short captions in English;

WHAT IT IS ABOUT

CulTVET is a 2-year Erasmus+ KA3 program that aims to the development of the tourism sector through the creation of a common European Certificate in the field of cultural tourism.

Participants will have the opportunity:

  • To get necessary training through a curriculum based on field’s needs, taking into account the European experience.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in other countries and be trained, through their participation, in a real work environment.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVE

The goals of the project are:

  • Understanding the conceptual framework of cultural tourism, its specialization and field’s characteristics
  • Understanding the characteristics, qualifications, and needs of cultural tourism in those countries who participate in the program and the adaption of a “European Qualifications Guide for Tourism” according to specific cultural needs.
  • Determining the qualifications that are more relevant and necessary for cultural tourism
  • Increasing youth employment in the tourism sector
  • Supplying the labor market and in particular the tourism sector with properly trained and certified professionals.
  • Supporting tourism through specialized tourism managers and services so as to promote their unique product of the visited destination, to increase the visitation and reduce seasonality

PROGRAM PARTNERS

The partners in the program are from four Mediterranean countries; Spain, Italy, Greece, and Cyprus which their economy is based on tourism.

In order for the aforementioned goals of the program to be achieved, we would appreciate your participation in the group that will be created in order to:

  • Present the project and its objectives to the working group
  • An Introduction and a short presentation of each participant in the group
  • Presentation of the European passport for cultural tourism.
  • Identification and adaptation of skills/abilities in the field of cultural tourism
  • Development of the qualifications profile, learning needs and results
  • Opinions on general satisfaction, activities and meeting results

Cultural Tourism is a growing industry and many employment opportunities are being opened all over the world. Therefore, there is an increased demand for specialists in the field while specialized qualifications on cultural tourism are rare.

The CULTVET project offers an enormous opportunity to people interested to work in the field of cultural tourism. It provides a professional qualification jointly developed by 4 Vocational Education and Training (VET) organizations from 4 Mediterranean European countries: Nuevas Profesiones from Spain, Istituto d’Istruzione Superiore “Luigi Einaudi” from Italy, Eurosuccess Consulting from Cyprus and the Company of Research, Education, Innovation and Development of the North Aegean Region S.A. (ELORIS S.A.) in Greece. The project offers also the opportunity for an internationally recognized accreditation of the skills acquired by ACTA – Certification, Training and Assessment Body and Spin Off Company of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

This joint qualification includes 200 hours of classroom-based lessons as well as 300 hours of guaranteed practical training in an enterprise or organization active in the field of cultural tourism. Eight of the students who will participate in the course [2 from each participating country] will also have the opportunity to make their practical training abroad.

CALL FOR INTEREST

Cultural Tourism is a growing industry and many employment opportunities are being opened all over the world. Therefore, there is an increased demand for specialists in the field while specialized qualifications on cultural tourism are rare.

The CULTVET project offers an enormous opportunity to people interested to work in the field of cultural tourism. It provides a professional qualification jointly developed by 4 Vocational Education and Training (VET) organizations from 4 Mediterranean European countries: Nuevas Profesiones from Spain, Istituto d’Istruzione Superiore “Luigi Einaudi” from Italy, Eurosuccess Consulting from Cyprus and the Company of Research, Education, Innovation and Development of the North Aegean Region S.A. (ELORIS S.A.) in Greece. The project offers also the opportunity for an internationally recognized accreditation of the skills acquired by ACTA – Certification, Training and Assessment Body and Spin Off Company of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

This joint qualification includes 200 hours of classroom-based lessons as well as 300 hours of guaranteed practical training in an enterprise or organization active in the field of cultural tourism. Eight of the students who will participate in the course [2 from each participating country] will also have the opportunity to make their practical training abroad.

The curriculum of the CULTVET Joint Qualification is built around the following competencies:
• Understanding the concept of cultural and heritage tourism and its value
• Interfacing with customers and managing customers experience
• Project Management for cultural tourism experiences
• ICT and Technology for Cultural Tourism
• Marketing and communication

The Joint Qualification is offered completely for free and only for the Academic Year 2019-2020. However, there are only 25 positions available in each country.

PROCLAMATION OF A NEW ACTION by THE MINISTRY OF LABOUR

Participation in the Action “Promotion to Employment of Unemployed young people aged 25 to 29 with science, technology, and business orientation, through training in the ICT sector”.

The announcement concerns all graduates except those from the Education and Informatics sectors.

The action will be implemented along with the training voucher by the licensed Centers for Lifelong Learning which will be registered in the list of Action Providers.

Includes:

  1. Vocational Guidance (two sessions )
  2. Provision of continuing professional theoretical training duration of four hundred (400) hours in the fields of Technology, Informatics, and Communications,
  3. Certification of the knowledge and skills will be acquired within the framework of the training program
  4. Internship – on the job training – total duration of two hundred (200) hours.

The topics of the training programs are:

  • Software Application Developer
  • Website and application design specialist
  • Database Developer

The Educational Allowance: includes the theoretical training allowance which reaches the: 2,000.00 Euros (400 hours * 5.00 euros/hour) and the internship allowance which reaches the:  800.00 Euros (200 hours * 4.00 euro/hour).
