The NIREAS – Digital Content Development program for the Operator of Biological Treatment Plants project offers the possibility to operators of biological treatment plants from all over Europe to follow a complete, free of charge e-learning course on the treatment of liquid waste.
The goal is to provide it free of charge to a group of up to 24 people from DEYA and Municipalities of the North Aegean region who deal with environmental issues.
The contents of the course are as follows.

- Main methods of urban wastewater treatment
- Smell control
- Recovery-recycling-reuse of outflows
- Equipment operation and maintenance
- Organization of a analysis laboratory in an EEL
- Hygiene and safety in an EEL
- Management – Public relations and promotion of an EEL

The Municipal Water Supply and Sewerage Company of Larissa (DEYAL) is the first and largest Municipal Company in the field, after EYDAP (Athens) and EYAT (Thessaloniki), with modern facilities and top quality services. The scope and duties of DEYAL are the following: the provision of Water Supply and Sewerage, as well as the study, construction, maintenance, exploitation, administration and operation of water supply networks, runoff and wastewater sewerage networks and sludge and wastewater treatment units (Biological Cleaning) in the area of DELYAL competence. It is also responsible for production of electric power a) by exploiting the solar energy and b) by burning the Biogas deriving from the Biological Cleaning and the XYTA (Sanitary Landfill) of the Municipality of Larissa. From 1983 onwards DEYAL has participated in many projects funded through loans (European Investment Bank – Loans and Deposits Fund), by the Public Investments plan and by the cohesion fund.

Action Synergy S.A. is an ICT R&D, training and knowledge- based applications organization which is actively involved in the development of education technologies, training methodologies and the development of e-learning training courses. Action Synergy S.A. disposes a long experience in the management and coordination of European Projects. It is currently coordinating six projects in the framework of the Lifelong Learning Programme. Since its foundation in 1987 the organization has participated in a considerable number of EU educational projects, such as COMETT, PETRA, SOCRATES, LEONARDO DA VINCI, ARTICLE 6, ADAPT, TEMPUS, PHARE,-Distance learning. Action Synergy’s S.A. key areas of expertise include: Development of learning methodologies, Development of educational technologies, Development of courses and modules making use of innovative methodologies such as: open/flexible learning methodologies, e-learning, learning needs analysis, development of professional profiles and lists of skills and competencies, development of synergies at local, national and transnational level.
Dialynas S.A. (Greece)

Dialynas S.A. activates itself on environmental issues using innovative systems of waste water treatment. It is a company that is specialized in the management and protection of environment, and particularly in the subjects of management of water and wastewaste. Dialynas S.A. has resolved problems that concern treatment and disposal or re-use of wastewater subjects, because of water pollution from exogenic factors that can cause serious problems in living organisms and also because of the lack of water. It is activated in national and international level with collaborations and work in all Greece and Southern Europe. Its headquarters are in Iraklion Crete, and allocates local representatives in all Greece. Our company is composed from specialised scientific personnel on environmental issues that face each problem with gravity and professionalism using the scientific background that has developed all these 8 years that the company activates itself in the environmental improvement.
CTANM – POLITEHNICA University of Bucharest (Romania)

POLITEHNICA University of Bucharest (PUB), founded in 1886, is now the largest technical university of Romania, with about 23000 students, 3300 full time staff, 1800 part-time faculty and 900 postgraduate students. The Center for Advanced Technologies (CTANM) is a research and training unit with financial and functional autonomy inside PUB, established in 1996, acting for defining and implementing both e-Learning current internal procedures and university’s LLL far-future development strategy. The CTANM’s funding is mainly realised through research and training contracts, with Romanian or foreign beneficiaries, by national, European or international projects.
IPP - Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (Portugal)

INSTITUTO POLITÉCNICO DO PORTO (IPP) is the largest Polytechnic in Portugal, with over 15.000 students divided by 7 schools. Since 1989 has established cooperation activity over 30 countries in Europe, America, Africa and Asia, as a coordinator and partner institution. Trains young people according to labour market needs. Integrated at IPP, ISEP is an engineering school of reference in Portugal and aims to contribute to sustainable human development through the creation and knowledge transfer., is attended by more than 6000 students, offers 11 first cycle engineering degrees and 11 master degrees. The formative offer is designed in a logical of applied knowledge, which favors “hands on” approach– learning by doing. The ISEP houses 9 research groups in different fields of engineering.
University of Granada (Spain)

The University of Granada has a range of different services that provide infrastructure and support for e-learning in both central and local settings. Through these different projects the University of Granada has reached a considerable expertise in the design, management and pedagogical and technological implementation of international on-line courses. It has participated in a very big number of transnational projects in this regard in Europe and worldwide. Regarding Water Treatment technologies and policies, Institute for Water (IW) was created by University of Granada in 1990 to centralize scientific and technical research and learning issues about water aspects. This institution has 69 members including university members, CSIC (Spanish National Council for Research) and pre- and postdoctoral researchers and students. The institute is integrated by six research groups with more than 70 Senior researchers, who have developed 68 national project and 31 international projects.
RTD TALOS LTD (Cyprus)

RTD Talos Ltd was established in 2000. Ever since the company has strategically positioned itself between the academia, SME’ and the government, benefiting from dissemination and training most importantly. Previous experience in the area under investigation, in EU level can be illustrated by a number of projects RTD Talos Ltd has taken part. Having been the National Point of Contact for SME’s in FP5 and FP6 we have acquired significant experience in disseminating information regarding European programmes. We have recently been appointed as country correspondents for ERAWATCH in order to report the latest about R&D and Innovation in Cyprus. We have acted as consultants and evaluators for the Ministry of Finance (Planning Bureau) for a number of EU funded schemes. Sewerage Board of Limassol-Amathus (Cyprus)

The main task of the Sewerage Board of Limassol – Amathus (SBLA) is the construction, operation and maintenance of the public sewerage and stormwater drainage system of the Greater Limassol Area and therefore to improve the hygienic and environmental conditions and the quality of life in the area. It is making a lot of investments in the field of Wastewater Treatment Plants. In 2006, SBLA has began the expansion of the “Moni” Wastewater Water Treatment Plant. The plant is in full operation since 2008. Until today, SBLA constructed significant sewerage and drainage infrastructure projects worth of millions of euro. These works are an irrefutable sample of culture and progress, covering basic needs of the community, helping to improve the quality of life and protecting public health as well as the environment. The population which is currently served by the Sewerage and Drainage System of Limassol Amathus (the largest in Cyprus) is 200.000.
