DESCRIPTION
Cinematopedia is a project which aims to empower cinemas in the local communities and enhance local cultural life and social inclusion through the creation of innovative cultural hubs around cinema. The target areas are locations, rich in cultural heritage but very week cinema offer, especially when it refers to European quality content. In order to achieve these objectives the project is going to organise a variety of cinema events including:
- Projection of at least 20 movies (in each participating country) as part of the weekly projections of the cinema club. 60% of these movies will be European movies. 5 of these movies will be part of the thematic projections that are going to focus on a topic which is currently in the agenda of the European Union (such as migration, climate change, social inclusion etc)
- Development of digital cultural hub at local levels with the organization of virtual screenings and workshops
- Organisation of projections in at least 16 rural locations (in each country) in the communities where the project activities are going to be concentrated in order to develop the cinema audience.
- Organisation of film projections in 8 cultural places (libraries, museums etc) (in both countries) with the aim to develop networks between cinema operators and other cultural actors in the local level.
- Organisation of seminars in 6 schools in each country with the title “production of movies in a school environment” with the involvement of 250 students
- Organisation of 6 small documentary projects in these schools with the involvement of the students and teachers of the schools
- Training of 60 teachers (in both countries) in audiovisual and cinema literacy
- Organisation of small projects related with film documentation of the local history with the involvement of 400 members of the local community (in both countries)
- Organisation of e-learning courses involving 250 people (in both countries)
- Organisation of 3 masterclasses in each country with the involvement of 100 people (totally)
- Organisation of 5 cinema workshops in each country (each one having the duration of 5-sessions)
- Organisation of a short film contest with the participation of 10 short movies in each country.
OBJECTIVES
The general objective of the project is to empower cinemas in the local communities and enhance local cultural life and social inclusion through the creation of innovative cultural hubs around cinema.
The specific objectives of the project are the following:
- To develop the cinema audience and offer increased quality cinema opportunities to local communities with small cinema infrastructure
- To raise awareness to the local audience in relation with the European cinema
- To increase the audiovisual and cinema literacy among members of the local communities involved
- To increase the networking between cinema operators and other cultural actors active in the community (such as libraries, museums etc)
