The aim of these activities is the training of teachers in audiovisual and cinematographic education regarding the fostering of cinematic culture in schools, the knowledge and approach of the tools of cinematic technology and the methods and techniques used to produce a cinematic product.

They also aim to develop critical thinking in relation to film products, the use of audiovisual material for the development of personal expression skills, the organisation and creation of audiovisual presentations in schools. Interdisciplinary approaches with other disciplines such as photography, visual arts, music, movement, literature, creative writing.

Participating teachers will be trained on issues related to film literacy, participate in film screenings and workshops with groups of students from their schools, become multipliers by organising workshops in their schools and create film content.

The project “Empowering Culture through Business: Introducing Business Academies for Culture and Creative Young Professionals in rural and remote areas” is funded under Key Action 2 of the Erasmus+ Programme and aims at the development and enhancement of the skills of Culture and Creative Young Professionals (CCYPs) living and working in rural and remote areas.

To achieve the goal of the project, the consortium will establish Business Academies aimed at educating young people through innovative training programmes with the involvement of specialists and professionals from the business and cultural sector.

The culmination of the efforts of the partners under this project, will be the creation and development, in a sustainable manner, of a prototype HUB in a remote, non-urban area in the Nicosia district. The HUB will provide the necessary support to young people for their professional development and especially access to funding tools in order to support their work. The creation of the original HUB and its sustainable development guide, aim to be a remarkable tool of development policy for local authorities and a best practice for remote communities.

The project started in January 2022 and it will be implemented until July 2024 with a total budget of € 207 445. The consortium comprises of 6 partners: the Nicosia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (coordinator), the European Office of Cyprus, Matera Hub in Italy, Danmar Computers from Poland, the Company of Research, Education, Innovation and Development of the North Aegean Region (ELORIS S.A.) and the training consulting company Catro in Bulgaria.

The kick-off meeting of the project took place on 28 January 2022. Due to restrictions because of the pandemic, the partners of the project met online.

At first, the coordinator of the project, the Nicosia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI), welcomed the partners and then each of them presented their organisations and core activities.

Later on, the coordinator presented the project objectives and the key results and milestones. Then, partners discussed the Intellectual Output 1 (IO1) of the project which is aims at finding the employability challenges faced by the Culture and Creative Young Professionals in rural or remote areas in each one of the participating countries through the use of surveys and desk research and then producing a consolidated report with the state of the art. 

At this point the partners discussed each activity that has to be undertaken under IO1 and defined the role of each of the partners under each activity.  Afterwards, the coordinator presented the reporting templates to be used by the partners so as to ensure the smooth development of the project.

Finally, the partner responsible for the Dissemination activities of the project, the European Office of Cyprus, presented some options for the project’s logo for which the partners had to vote which one was their preferred one and the Communication and Dissemination plan of the project was presented. 

The partners of the project met physically for the first time in the project’s first transnational meeting in the island of Lesbos in Greece. The meeting was hosted by the Company of Research, Education, Innovation and Development of the North Aegean Region (ELORIS S.A.).

During the meeting the partners discussed the progress of the activities of IO1 and especially the results of the survey and desk research and the subsequent delivery of national reports for each partner country.

Then the partners discussed the activities of Intellectual Output 2 (IO2) of the project which aims at the creation of Business Academies for Culture and Creative Young Professionals through the design and delivery of a VET course. The partners had a lively discussion as to the number and context of the courses which will be designed by CATRO with the assistance of the rest of the partners of the consortium. 

Materahub, also presented to the consortium their plan for the delivery of Intellectual Output 3 (IO3) under which the partners will provide guidelines through a guidebook for the creation of culture and creativity Hubs in a rural or remote area. This guidebook will mainly target rural local and regional authorities and administrations. 

The partners also discussed about the design and creation of the e-learning platform of the project. The e-learning platform will be accessible to all young creative professionals and rural regional and local authorities and it will contain the national reports developed under IO1, the courses to be developed under IO2 and the guidebook produced by IO3. The e-learning platform will also serve as an online forum where the users of the platform will be able to discuss with each-other and exchange ideas, find partners and inform their colleagues about good-practices.

This Thursday 23th of June at 20.00 ΕΕΤ cinematopedia project is organizing an online event to talk  about how cinema is approaching the subject of gender inequality and gender-based violence. 

Cinematopedia is a Creative Europe MEDIA project which aims to use cinemas as innovation hubs for  local communities. 

In this European event there is participation from four different countries: Italy, France, Lithuania and  Greece. The Cinematopedia partners from these countries will present case studies, films that addressed  the subject of gender, and will then discuss them with the people attending the event. 

The list of films that we are going to talk about and the partners presenting are the following: 

• Rencontres Audiovisuelles (Lille, France) – Où vont les sons (2020) Five friends meet on Skype and a sixth one hasn’t appeared yet. Little by little, we discover what binds  them: the memory of the “Talk to me about love”, an evening organized by a certain Clémence. The  story alternates between the Skype discussion and the memory of that evening. Director: Florent Gouëlou 
• Politistikos Syllogos Fortetsas (Crete, Greece) – Little England (2013) An epic tale of lost love and a beautiful story of the love between sisters, set in the Greek island of  Andros at the beginning of the 20th century. Director: Pantelis Voulgaris
• Kino Pasaka (Vilnius, Lithuania) – And then we danced (2019) A passionate coming-of-age tale set amidst the conservative confines of modern Tbilisi, the film follows  Merab, a competitive dancer who is thrown off balance by the arrival of Irakli, a fellow male dancer with  a rebellious streak. Director: Levan Akin 
• Callysto APS (Napoli, Italy) – Women of the Land (2021) WOMEN OF the LAND is a documentary that tells the stories of a group of Italian women who moved  from the city to the countryside to make their dream come true: live in harmony with nature through  the self-production of organic food, learn the arts of cultivation, transformation, preservation, restore  local communities and promote an alternative lifestyle against over-consumption. Director: Elisa Flaminia Inno 
• ELORIS (Mytilene, Greece) – Petite Fille (2020) The touching portrait of eight-year-old Sasha, who questions her gender and in doing so, evokes the  sometimes disturbing reactions of a society that is still invested in a biological boy-girl way of thinking. Director: Sébastien Lifshitz

The North Aegean Region acquires its own young film community!

The Company for Research, Education, Innovation and Development of the North Aegean Region – ELORIS SA announces the launch of the project Cinematopedia  – Cinemas as Hubs of Innovation in Local Communities, funded by the Creative Europe MEDIA Programme of the European Union.

The aim of the project is to:

• empower cinemas in local communities
• enhance local cultural life
• create cultural innovation centers with a focus on cinema
• promote European cinema
• promote the creative industries
• promotes culture through the cinema of local communities.

Within the framework of the project, a series of activities focusing on cinema will take place.

The beginning of these actions will take place on the two days of December 18 & 19, 2021 with a live seminar regarding cinema and screenwriting.

What will happen then?

An interactive two-day film seminar aimed at young people aged 15 to 22…. and not only!

What does this mean;

Within these two days we will introduce the participants to the aspects of the cinematic process and they will then have the opportunity, in turn, to become creative members of the project. They will participate in more specialized seminars, attend screenings and, most importantly, create their own works (either fiction or documentaries) with the help of Cinematopedia artists.

SEMINAR SCHEDULE

Day 1:

The French film La Haine (The Hate) will be screened and based on this creation by Mathieu Kassovich, an introduction to the basic concepts of cinema will be made: directing, editing, photography and the history of this particular art. Another thing that we will discuss is the theme of the project and how the cinema can be a tool of deep experiential and enjoyable education.

Day 2:

The second day of the seminar will be dedicated to the script, which will be interactive. After a theoretical introduction to the traditional structure of a script, participants will be asked to write a short story, which will be read in front of the plenary to discuss it together.

An initiative started by all of us who want to work together and contribute actively and in an organized way to improving the image of our islands both to ourselves and to the rest of the world.

We believe that it is a great opportunity and an opportunity to start an effort together to show the world our place through our own eyes. To highlight the authenticity of our place, its excellent gastronomy, its unique landscapes and its culture.

Initially this campaign encourages users (all of us) to send their own material (photos, videos) showing their own unique experiences “through their eyes” from the islands of the North Aegean, the place where they live, work, are studying or have visited.

Then, a collection of material will be created, which will display the experiences of the people, the authentic way of life in the North Aegean, the landscapes, the flavors, the colors and the aromas of the islands of the North Aegean through our eyes, and the which will be displayed through the public profiles of the campaign in order to promote the destination to as large an audience as possible.

In the framework of the European project Erasmus+ “Joint Qualification in the field of Cultural Tourism (CULTVET)”, we are looking for participants in a specialized transnational joint qualification course on the theme of cultural tourism.

The main of the course is to develop the skills of professionals in the field of cultural tourism and empower them to plan, promote, implement, and evaluate events based on cultural tourism. The course is addressed to:

The students should have at least an intermediate knowledge of English. Due to the COVID19 pandemic, the course is going to be organized entirely online. Application is open to people from every European country but the positions are strictly limited (50).

The duration of the course is 200 hours of synchronous online sessions as well as 300 hours of guaranteed practical training in an enterprise or organization active in the field of cultural tourism. The practical training could be online, face-to-face, and/or blended, based on the preferences of the students, the particularities of each country, and availability.

The courses are going to be organized in English and are going to last from the 19^th of October 2020 until the 26^th of February 2021. The online synchronous sessions are going to be organized through zoom during the evening hours 4 times per week for the above-mentioned period.

• The students that will complete successfully the course will receive a professional qualification jointly developed by 4 VET organisations from 4 Mediterranean European countries: Nuevas Profesiones from Spain, Istituto d’Istruzione Superiore “Luigi Einaudi” from Italy, Eurosuccess from Cyprus and the Company of Research, Education, Innovation and Development of the North Aegean Region S.A. (ELORIS).
